Trafficking Post Two!

I have learned so much already! I was so clueless about trafficking women. In this blog I would like to discuss what are the causes of trafficking women. The United Nations believes there are over 4 million women trafficked yearly, which results in a seven billion dollar profit for the criminals. Men are willing to pay a lot of money to sexually, physically, and mentally abuse these women. That is why a ton of the poorer countries are taking part in this. Also, a lot of these countries do not have many laws set up to prevent trafficking. Another reason trafficking is becoming more popular is because women are seen as lesser than the male, therefore, making it easier for women to be objectified. There is a really cool website I found that gives a bunch of different countries and it says why it is such a big deal there and what is being done to prevent it. This website has been a huge help to me. Here it is! http://www.humantrafficking.org/ Enjoy!

Trafficking

Our college writing class has been assigned to research a topic, the topic my group chose is trafficking women in different countries. I am going to take a break on writing about "How to be a Lady", and begin to focus more on what I'm learning about while I am working on my paper. Trafficking is a form of modern day slavery. Trafficking includes buying, selling, and moving people against their will to different locations. They could be forced to sell drugs or to have sex with others for money. I had no idea that women were being forced to being trafficked in the United States. It is estimated 14,500 to 17,500 women are trafficked in the United States annually. I am completly stunned at those numbers. I found a really interesting website about trafficking in the USA. It has a lot of great information on it. It is crazy to think that you might have been driving home one night and see a woman dressed in revealing attire and not think anything of it. Maybe you just think it was her choice to exploit her body to men, but maybe, just maybe, she does'nt have a choice and she is being forced to do it. I am really excited to learn more about my topic!

Break Ups!

Break ups are never easy, whether you've been dating for two weeks or two years! Let's say you're the one dumper as apposed to the dumpee.First off, do it in person. Don't do it over a phone call, e-mail or text message. You will just come off looking mean. A not so good way to call it quits with someone is to whip out the ole "It's not you, it's me". Let the person know how you truly feel. If you pull that famous line, the person will be confused and left with many questions unanswered. Also, make it private, but not too private. For instance, don't end it at a popular restaurant just in case the person gets emotional. That would be embarrassing for, you and the dumpee. If you make it too private, that could turn ugly very easily. If the person gets abusive or aggressive with you, you want some other people to be around. Don't break up with someone at a place you two would go together, such as, a restaurant where you went on your first date together. Lastly, tell the dumpee how you feel. This sounds harsh, but try your hardest not to think about the other person. Remember, you're breaking up with the person because you're not happy. Try to put your feelings first. Be strong. Once you end it, stand by your decision. Now, lets say you're the dumpee. It stinks. Once it happens, accept it. DO NOT beg them to stay with you. It doesn't work. Find some close friends you can rely on and talk, or spend some girl time. Eat some comfort food and try to focus on yourself. Try to avoid the dumper if you still have feelings for them. Give them space, chances are they are hurt too. Don't be an obsessive ex, delete his number so you're not tempted to text him/call him. Definitely don't facebook stalk him. You're single and he is single as well. Have fun! Don't try to find a rebound right away. Enjoy being single and having fun! Even if it seems like you will never get over him, you will! There are plenty of fish in the sea! Another guy will come and he'll probably be a lot better than your ex!

How Ladies deal with Stress

High School is a stressful time for any girl! Boys, grades, work, sports, and maintain a social life, it's just not fair how much weight we have on our shoulders at this time in our lives. Many of us do not know how to deal with it at all or don't know how to deal with stress correctly. If we figure out how to deal with it, we can knock our stress level way down. First off, you have to realize what you are stressing out about. Now all you have to do is help ease the stress. A good way to deal with stress is to talk about it! Find someone you can rely on. Whether it is a close friend, a relative, or a teacher. Just find someone! You would be surprised how much it will help to hear another person's take on the situation. Another you can turn down your stress levels is to take deep breaths and try to wash all the stress from your mind. Also, you can make a to-do list. Try to get something on your list accomplished everyday! Try to take a nice, warm bubble bath. This will help your body relax and ease tension. Listening to music can help inspire, as well as relax you.

Applying Makeup

It is hard to go anywhere without seeing makeup malfunctions! It could happen to any of us! Makeup disasters can range from looking like a cake face ( to much makeup everywhere) to picking out colors that do not compliment your skin tone. I would like to take this opportunity to help assist with these make up faux-paws. Before applying ANY makeup gently cleanse your entire face, including your neck. Next apply a moisturizer, it is nice to pick a moisturizer that has a built in sunscreen. You can go to a makeup counter at a department store and they can help you find the perfect color for your skin tone. Apply Concealer where you see blemishes and under your eyes, no one likes purple- brown bags under their eyes. Next apply foundation on your forehead, cheeks, and chin and blend in with a brush. Try to avoid using a sponge to blend in your foundation. Sponges soak up your makeup, which can be a complete waste of money. When putting on eye makeup start with eye shadow. Try to use 3 different shades. The lightest shade should go towards the eyebrow and lid. The darker color should go on the eyelid. Then apply eyeliner, use it sparingly or else you might appear to have squinty eyes. Next coat eyelashes with mascara, throw away mascara after 3 months of use to avoid clumpy mascara. Blush has to be applied in little amounts as well, make sure the color isn't too overwhelming. Blush should just make you have a little glow not make you look like someone smeared lip-stick on your cheeks. Put blush on underneath your cheekbones. Hope I could help!!

Dating!

I couldn't figure out how to put a chart on here so I will try to do that next time! Sorry! Any who, let's talk about something that causes a lot of stress....DATING! First off, you have to dress the part, don't wear something to skimpy or something that doesn't flatter you. Make sure to wear something you know you look amazing in, and also something that makes you feel comfortable. Secondly, don't use bad words. Choose your words wisely. Try to keep a constant voice level when you are talking to your date, you don't want to think you are lecturing them. If you are going on a dinner date, try not to stuff yourself silly. Quick Hint: If you're not sure how much money your date is planning on spending, ask him what he is ordering and then find something else on the menu that is around that price. Most importantly, stand up straight and act like you have all the confidence in the world and nothing could possibly bring you down! OOO I almost forgot! Try to read up on special events, politics, or even good movies and good music. This will help the conversation going and going! Until next time!

First Post!

What makes a Lady?

What makes a woman a lady? This is a very good question. It depends on how you view things. I believe a Lady is a person who carries them self well and is a well-rounded person. I have a book titled "How To Be a Lady" and the qualifications for being a Lady, in that authors view, are very strict. For instance, it says Ladies should not talk to their girl friends about their boy drama. Of course girls talk to their friends about their boy drama, it's only natural. There is clearly many different aspects a woman must have to be considered a Lady. I will poll my fellow classmates about what the feel makes a Lady. I will share my findings with you in my next update :)
